2025 BYC 86th Anniversary and Old Salts Dinner is over but there are still many “thank you” to all the wonderful members that made this happen. First, the 2025 Flag Officers and Board supported and led by Commodore Graeme Lowe help prepare, set up and serve the dinner. Chef William developed and prepared an amazing dinner for all of us to enjoy. Special thanks to our manager, Elizabeth Zalstein, who I met for the first time last year when she volunteered to help serve at the Old Salts dinner. Glen and S/C Mary Garfein helped with welcoming our guests and reading the Crossing the Bar and Eight Bells ceremony. We had a great group of volunteers that set up, decorated, help prepare the dinner, serve and cleanup. I can’t thank them all enough for their hard work. It is what makes the Old Salts dinner so special it is the support of the Flag Officers, Board of Directors and Member Volunteers. This year new members Christine Mai and Johnny Zhang and their daughter, Florence, videotaped the Crossing the Bar and highlights from the evening. You can watch the videos here. Slide presentation and photographs by Staff Commodore Jeannette Lakness-King.

It has been a year since we honored our long time members of Berkeley Yacht Club. These are the members that for the last fifty-five plus years and counting have built the club house, secured the funding, managed to uphold the spirit of the club. And all the time having fun doing it. Cruise outs, races and socials are the foundation that we newer members are all enjoying today.
So let us thank this year’s honorees again for their years of contribution to Berkeley Yacht Club.
They are:
55+ year members: Gordon and Betty Towell
50 year members: Cesare and Lina Galtieri
40 year members: Gun Landwehr, John and Sheri Zalabak
35 year member: Patti Brennan
30 year members: Aaron Lee and Louis Benainous
25 year members: Robin Crawford, Roger Behnken, Peter and Wanda Beczek, and Thomas Hudson & Pearl Chang.
Hope to see you all next year at the Old Salt Event.
