April News from the Helm

Updated: Apr 2

Spring is in the air -- flowers are blooming, summer racing is underway, the barbecue is hopping! So much to say, so much to do.

Let's start with business. In March, we held our Semi-Annual Corporation Meeting. There was no business to attend to except the reading of the prior minutes. Thankfully, a wise member moved to waive such reading!

State of the Club. The State of the Club is strong. Our membership is steady with new members joining and those traveling to different waters leaving. With the loss of long time members, we lose memories and traditions. We are trying to keep those alive through the newly formed Historic Preservation Committee. So, if you have a story, pictures or memorabilia to share, please reach out to Nicholas (manager@berkeleyyc.org).

Financially, the Club is strong. We had sufficient money set aside to build the new roof and purchase a new engine for the club skiff, the Bobbi Tosse.

Because the Club is strong, we are able to host wonderful events such as Jam Night, the Crew Party and the Easter Lunch/Egg Hunt in March. Anyone with pictures, please forward to NHT@berkeleyyc.com.

April is also packed with events starting with the Roller Wheeler Annual Regatta to Benefit Special Olympics. The Annual Swap Meet is Saturday, April 20th followed by the April Member Dinner. The 27th brings Berkeley Bay Festival followed by Opening Day on the Bay on the 28th. Look for future emails with more details on each of these events.

From the parties we throw and the races we run, to the clubhouse we maintain and the friendly spirit that greets you when you come to hang out or attend an event, there is a lot of things for us all to do. None of it is possible without volunteers. A great big thank you to those who help out.

We hope to see you around the club, enjoying everything your membership has to offer.
