First and foremost, I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to all our “Old Salts”—members who have been with the club for 25 years or more. This year’s Old Salts Dinner and our 86th anniversary celebration was a fantastic evening filled with laughter, stories, and reflections on all that has brought us together over the years. My deepest thanks to Staff Commodore Betty Gray, whose passion, attention to detail, and sense of history once again made the event both memorable and meaningful. If you couldn’t make it, I highly recommend checking out the video highlights here: 2025 Old Salts Dinner Highlights, courtesy of new members Christine Mai & Johnny Zhang.
But BYC is not only about tradition—we’re also focused on our future. Vice Commodore Roger Mason is hard at work putting the finishing touches on this year’s Kid’s Camp, which promises two weeks of fun, learning, and sailing for our next generation. If you have kids, grandkids, or young friends eager to get out on the water, there is still time to sign them up for week two if not week one. It’s one of the best ways to pass along our passion for sailing and the Bay.
This month also marks a special milestone for our Manager, Elizabeth Zalstein, who is celebrating her first anniversary with BYC. In just a year, Elizabeth has made a tremendous impact—her organizational skills have kept us running smoothly, and her partnership with all of our members and volunteers has elevated not only our dining experience but the club operations overall. If you’ve enjoyed a meal or a well-run event lately, you have Elizabeth to thank for much of that magic. Congratulations, Elizabeth, and thank you for all that you do!
As always, I’m proud to serve as your commodore and grateful to our volunteers, officers, and staff who bring their passion and energy to this club every day. Together, we honor the best of our traditions while charting a course for the future.
See you at the club and out on the water!
