By Brian Cline, Commodore
Dearest Members,
I am excited to share with you some recent developments and provide an overview of the state of our cherished club.
First and foremost, I want to thank all of you for your continued dedication and involvement in our club's activities. The Berkeley Yacht Club is more than just a place for boating activities; it's a vibrant community where everyone pitches in, lending the force behind our atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual support. We've seen this spirit in action throughout our various dinners, races, cruises, and educational seminars, and it can be found in the bar on any quiet afternoon or early morning.
The recent Memorial Day cruise to the Sausalito Yacht Club is a shining example of our thriving community. This event was a resounding success, with six of our member boats setting sail and two joining the fleet by land. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all who participated, especially our Rear Commodore Graeme Lowe and Cruise Chair Brad Kekst, for organizing this adventure. Your dedication and enthusiasm made this event the highlight of my sailing season.
In addition to our ongoing events, we continuously strive to improve our communication and member engagement. I'm thrilled to announce that our new website is now live! This new platform is designed to be more user-friendly, informative, and interactive. It provides detailed information about upcoming events, allows communication between members, and much more. We hope it will become the hub for all our club news, updates, and planning and help us stay connected.
As part of this transition, we'll move away from our Slack platform and Google group email list. Centralizing our communication on the new website will make it easier for everyone to stay informed and engaged. Please note that we plan to
completely shut down the Slack channel and Google groups by September 1, so I encourage everyone to start using the new website sooner than later. If you have not yet logged in, you can create an account now at berkeleyyc.org
I am incredibly proud of the progress we continue to make together as a club. Each member's energy, dedication, and spirit have been instrumental in our success, and I look forward to what the future holds for us. I am honored to serve as your Commodore and excited to navigate the future waters with all of you.
Fair winds and following seas,
Brian Cline
