The end of my term as commodore is nearing. We have seen a lot of positive changes around the club. New members continue to join our Club, bringing with them enthusiasm for both sailing and the Club.
We have a new roof and a bunch of needed club house repairs. These repairs had been delayed pending roof completion. We are happy that we get those worked on this year. Thank you to Graeme, Glen, Scott and others on the maintenance committee for you commitment and skill!
We have continued old traditions and started new ones. Friday Night BBQs have never tasted so good. And the new Fun Fridays series have kept the good vibe and good home made food (thanks to Elizabeth, Judy, Kopi and Lisa) going.
My last hurrah is the Commodore's Ball and Change of Watch. Both the dinner and music are being brought to us by Club members. Glen is making the bourbon pork; Chris is making the pecan topped cod; Linda is making the dirty rice; Bunny is making the creole stuffed eggplant; my daughter and I are making the spice cake; and David is bring his saxophone. I would like to 'personally' invite each and every member to join us at the Commodore's Ball to thank our current Board of Directors for their service, to honor some very dedicated volunteers, and to welcome on the 2025 Board of Directors.
What's the dress code for the Commodore's Ball? This is BYC -- you can dress as fancy as you want!
From the parties we throw, the cruises we plan and the races we run, to the clubhouse we maintain and the friendly spirit that greets you when you come to hang out or attend an event, there is a lot of things for us all to do. None of it is possible without volunteers. A great big thank you to those who help out.
We hope to see you around the club, enjoying everything your membership has to offer.
