Proposed 2027 Board Slate

The Nominating Committee is pleased to present its proposed slate of candidates for the 2027 Berkeley Yacht Club Board of Directors:

• Commodore — Mari Bird

• Vice Commodore — Judy Lee

• Rear Commodore — Phil Strause

• Fleet Captain — Peter Witherington

• Port Captain — Chris LaRose

• Secretary — Leslie Brogan

• Treasurer — Suliana Baldwin

• Directors-at-Large — Annette Amaral, Drake Hughes, Evan McDonald, Max Perez

We're grateful to each of these members for their willingness to serve and to Commodore Roger Mason and the 2026 Board for their leadership this past year.

Candidates will be introduced at the October corporation meeting and bios will appear in the next issue of the Now Hear This.

Member nominations

Any Voting Member may nominate additional candidates. Nominations must be made in writing, by email or otherwise, to both the Commodore (commodore@berkeleyyc.org) and the Secretary (secretary@berkeleyyc.org), and must be received no later than 1600 prior to the corporation meeting on October 17. If you nominate someone other than yourself, the Secretary will confirm that the nominee wishes to run before the ballot is finalized.

Election timeline

• By November 6 — Electronic ballots will be emailed to all Voting Members between November 1 and November 6. If you haven't received yours by November 6, please contact the Secretary at secretary@berkeleyyc.org. Ballots must be submitted by the deadline stated on the ballot.

• November 21 — Election meeting. Results will be announced at the meeting and posted on the BYC website shortly afterward.

• December 5 — The new Board will be installed at the Commodore's Ball and Change of Watch.
