We thank all of our volunteers for the hard work they have put into making our Club a better place. Every year there are a few who stand out. Here are this year's awardees.

Matty Matthews Award BYC Member Matty Matthews commanded the four-stack destroyer depicted on this award. It is given to the member who has contributed the most to the Club this year. The 2024 recipient is Judy Lee. Judy is a relatively new member to our Club who has made our kitchen a better place. Judy has cleaned and organized the refrigerator, freezer and cabinets. She has practiced first in/first out to make sure we are not wasting any food. And, she has helped with making sure our $5 Freezer meals are kept stocked for all of us to enjoy. Judy, we thank you for all you have contributed to the Club this year.

The Unsung Hero Award is given to a member whose contributions are often unnoticed by the membership at large. The 2024 recipient is Scott Barnes. Scott, another relatively new member, is often seen around the club house fixing things. He has helped replace the rotting boards on the guest dock, fixed the large whole in the deck closet, worked with Roger to stock the Ships's Store with great merchandise and so much more. Scott, we thank you for all you have contributed behind the scenes.

The Betty Towle First Mate Award is given to a member for pushing and pulling the one who got the credit. This award is usually given to a spouse. But not this year. The 2024 recipient is Bunnie Quint. Bunnie is often seen volunteering in the kitchen. She quietly takes the one in charge to the side to let them know the best way to achieve a flawless dinner. She works tirelessly in the kitchen cutting, chopping, cooking and plating so many meals we can't thank her enough. Bunnie, we do thank you for all that you do.

The Glenn Waterhouse Award is given to the member who most contributed to our racing activities. Glenn Waterhouse was an Olympic champion in Star sailboard racing and BYC Commodore in 1967. The 2024 recipient is JP Camille. JP is our Fleet Captain, leader of the Beercan Committee and the force behind the Lipton Cup and so many other races around the Club. Thank you JP, for all you do for the BYC Racing program.

The Irving Fatt Cruising Award is given to the member who most contributed to our cruising program. Irving Fatt was an avid BYC cruiser and wanted cruising to be recognized as we do racing. The 2024 recipient is Brad Kekst. Brad is our Cruising Committee Chair. He works with the Cruising Committee to organize at least one cruise a month. Brad is always reaching out to our cruising members for great cruising ideas and help with the planning. Brad, thank you for the efforts you have put into our cruising program.

The Bryan Stephenson Memorial Youth Sailing Award is given to the member who contributed the most to our youth sailing program. The 2024 recipient is Andrew Haggerty. Andrew was asked to help with Kids Camp just a few weeks before camp started. He graciously agreed and then showed up each day for two weeks helping to corral a half dozen kids into life jackets, down to the docks, onto kayaks, dinghies and everything that floats at BYC. The kids loved Andrew. Andrew, thank you for bringing a spark to our youth sailing program.
