trip along the Rhine River.
Rhine River Cruise
Glen and I had a relaxing week on the Klin, a Viking River Cruise ship that holds about 200 guests. We embarked in Amsterdam, traveling up river to Basel, Switzerland with stops within the Netherlands, Germany and France.
We enjoyed beautiful vistas, learned the region's history starting from the conquering Charlemagne to Louis XIV and Napoleon through the World Wars. Our trip included tours of canals, windmills, churches, ancient cities, castles and local culture. And, we sampled the local Kolsch beer and Riesling wines.
