Steven Presser died peacefully on Oct. 21, 2024 of Lewy Body Dementia and cardiac failure at the RN Loving Care Home in El Cerrito. Steven was 81 years old and had been ill for four years. Steven and his wife Sally, who predeceased him, were very active members of Berkeley Yacht Club for roughly 50 years. His various boats were always named Baybird, and his most recent was a 1994 Catalina 320, which he lovingly maintained and continued to sail until his memory problems curtailed the activity. One of his most favorite activities was the weekly sailing trips to various other yacht clubs with a group of boats from the Berkely Yacht Club.
A day of remembrance will likely be held at Berkeley Yacht Club later this fall. Anyone who would like more information can contact Stephen Bradley at sbradley@hbs.edu.
Here is a picture of Steven Presser and me (Stephen Bradley) with a plaque honoring his wife Sally Presser. I am the guy on the left and Sally was my sister. The plaque is for the fund that they established to support graduate students in Public Health at UC Berkeley.
