It is with heavy hearts that we write to inform you of the passing of our beloved Staff Commodore Bobbi Tosse. Bobbi was not only a pillar of our club but an institution in the Bay Area sailing community for more than 50 years.
Her kindness, focus, and passion for our club have left a lasting impact on us all.
Bobbi's 'Celebration of a Life Well Sailed' will be held at BYC on Sunday, February 26, following the Champion of Champions award ceremony, 5:00-8:00pm.
BYC Remembers Bobbi Tosse
Bobbi was one of the first BYC members I connected with. Always kind with me and happy/real personality. I will miss her a lot. — S/C Tibu de la Carcova
What wonderful a person to make the club and sailing a better place. She will be missed. I loved talking to her and hearing her tell stories and cracking jokes with her. — David Janinis
I remember Bobbi's warmth, humor , intelligence and especially her pluck - running a race with her oxygen cannister behind her, with not an iota of complaint. She was an inspiration.
— Pete Weisman
One of my favorite memories was the OYRA race where we started them at F, using the Bobbi Tosse as the committee boat, maybe 2017? Fortunately it was early and light enough that it was a smooth ride. She said she had never been on the boat before, and to my knowledge, she never went out on it again. — Colin Thompson
I will miss the most recognizable radio voice on the Bay and Pac Cup race committees. Right now she’s squaring the line and waiting for wind somewhere in Heaven. Sail on, Bobbi! — Pat Lowther
Here is the cake Mark had made for her 80th birthday party at the club. She would always have to clarify on the radio "this is Bobbi the person." — Mari Bird
Bobbi enjoying time with Santa. She enjoyed everything about the club.
— S/C Betty Gray
I salute Bobbi. She did and will always personify what is special about BYC: a life-long love for sailing and a no- nonsense, warm attitude to fellow sailors. — Paolo Calafiura
